Our approach

We strive to build long-term partnerships based on mutual trust and stability in order to offer continuity, predictability and certainty of delivery. As for us, it means we can respond even better to client requirements and processes.

From co-engineering and production to warehousing and logistics

We’re a machining company at our core. But we do much more. We develop production methods together with our clients. We procure materials such as castings and forgings. And for some clients, we take care of surface treatment, warehousing and logistics. Call on us in whatever way suits you. Here is everything we can do for you:

Co-engineering

For many products, we are involved from the design phase onwards – together with the client and often also with the foundry and forging supplier. This way, we develop a product that meets all technical specifications and is cost-efficient to produce. Our engineers contribute their machining expertise:

  1. How feasible is the design?
  2. Which tolerances are realistic?
  3. How do we minimise set-ups and tool changes?

Result: shorter lead times, lower production costs and a product that meets the agreed specifications and quality standards.

Determining the machining strategy

After finalising the design, it’s time to determine the optimal machining strategy. This begins with a release order, in which we elaborate and test the strategy. After approval, the client releases the product. This gives all parties the assurance that the chosen strategy meets the requirements. Time for production to begin!

Production

Our production operations are designed for maximum flexibility. Thanks to smart processes and far-reaching automation, we can easily scale up when volumes rise. We monitor tolerances continuously. Depending on the nature and scale of the order, we choose one of our production methods: manned CNC machines, semi-manned FMS lines or our fully unmanned AMP factory. You can find more about our production methods on the Specialisms page

Surface treatment

Once the finished or semi-finished product is complete, we also take care of the required surface treatment, such as galvanising, anodising or special anti-corrosion coatings. For offshore applications, this consists of providing maximum protection in harsh conditions. In automotive, it ensures durability and an attractive finish. In the end, it simply means that the products will be ready for immediate use or assembly.

Assembly

You can also have your semi-finished products assembled by Van Bilsen. Receive your final products ready for use, without additional steps in your own process. During assembly we carry out extensive testing so that each product meets the agreed specifications to save you time (fewer process steps!) and reduce the risk of errors.

Continuous improvement

Even when a product has been in production for a long time, we continue to critically assess both quality and process. Together with the client, we always look for improvements in efficiency, lead time and cost. This is how we ensure that products continue to be manufactured in smarter and more cost-efficient ways, without compromising on required quality.

Procurement

Many clients also entrust us with the procurement of castings and forgings. We work with a network of reliable suppliers that we carefully select and audit according to ISO and IATF standards. This ensures you always receive high-quality base materials and do not need to manage suppliers yourself.

Inventory management and logistics

Feel free to entrust inventory management and logistics to us as well. By keeping procured parts and finished or semi-finished products in stock, you benefit from short delivery times without holding large inventories yourself. Any fluctuations in demand are absorbed by us! We align our planning with the forecast you provide, to keep your production flexible, save costs and ensure you always receive timely deliveries.

Periodic meetings and forecasting

Through periodic consultations and forecasts, we keep production predictable and reliable. They give you the certainty that delivery and capacity align with your current demand, while enabling us to adjust our processes and planning in good time. This prevents issues, increases efficiency and gives both sides control over quality and continuity, paving the way for a long-term partnership based on mutual trust.

Quality and sustainability

We work according to the highest quality standards: ISO 9001, IATF 16949 and ISO 14001. This serves as proof of how we combine reliable production with responsible business practices. Read more on our Quality and Sustainability pages.
