CSR at Van Bilsen

Our responsibility goes beyond production alone. We work according to the guidelines of the CSRD (Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive) and focus on three pillars: environment, employment practices and governance. This ensures that our operations are not only solid, but socially responsible and reliable too.

Environmental focus

We manage our waste streams carefully. We purchase most of our materials within Western Europe, which results in less transport and therefore in CO₂ reduction. Chips released during machining are reused, while oil is filtered and reused wherever possible. In addition, we work with targets to reduce our energy consumption. We invest in LED lighting and will soon renew our façades with better insulation and insulating glass. We are ISO 14001 certified, which further safeguards our environmental and sustainability performance.

Good employment practices

Our roughly 90 employees are the heart of our company. We invest in a pleasant and safe working environment with a flat and open culture. We also place strong emphasis on training and development. This allows employees to progress further, for example to the role of operator or engineer. Every three years we conduct an employee satisfaction survey to help us improve. Diversity is another focus: more and more women are joining our team.

Governance

Good governance and transparency are essential for sustainable business operations. That is why we apply a strict and responsible procurement policy and take measures to prevent corruption. We carefully determine which countries we do and do not procure materials from. We select our suppliers based on international quality and sustainability standards. Within the company we have a whistleblowing procedure to guarantee openness and safety. We also devote a great deal of attention to cybersecurity, ensuring that data is well protected.
